Merry Christmas!

Liz is fighting a cold but otherwise it's been a Christmas made-to-order. Evelyn loves her gifts, and to top it all off we've got snow!

Our thoughts are with all of you, friends and family. We wish we could be with you and we hope to see you very soon. Big hugs to everyone and have a joyous holiday season!

Holiday scramble

Hallo! Just wanted to post some nice pix of our recent fun times, as described by Mike's last post. Many more are up on Flickr now for November, and December's on its way! Also, for the record, the weather doesn't suck non-stop around here! There are cold but clear days amid the gray ones.

Mostly, we're busy scrambling to get ready for Xmas & New Year's...all of your cards are liable to be late, so don't hold your breath! We'll be lucky to get packages out to family in a timely manner. Having Rita get smashed up by somebody backing out of their driveway wasn't much help. We're also starting the interview process for a new Au Pair, as we will have to say good-bye to Sophie in the start of February. And we're in negotiations for a couple interesting opportunities for our business, too! Never a dull moment....

Hugs,
Liz

P.S. But I finally got a picture of Evelyn carrying around Miss Kitty & Huffy the Puppy:

The weather may suck, but life is good

Evelyn is morphing into a tiny human before our eyes. What a hoot. We're enjoying a wonderful run-up to the holidays and we hope you are too.

We went with a toddler-friendly tree this year. All the decorations are safe for small hands and we left the hanging hooks in storage. We've also written off tracking an accurate 1-to-1 association of bows to packages since bows have a tendency to wander away if you get my meaning if you catch my drift.

'Bada' Doug was here for a visit last weekend. We braved the rain to take in Zoo Lights at the Portland Zoo. What an awesome display of holiday luminescence and good cheer! I'm sure this will be the start of an annual family tradition.

This weekend we took a date night for ourselves and ate some tapas. Tonight we're watching Ratatouille on DVD.

The simple things are the good things. Give someone you love a hug!

I want your Chevrolet now!

Greetings! A post with a "mystery theme." See if you can guess what it is. Answer below. Have fun!

Everything is under
I'm enthusiastic
Beautiful do age
Try style blue
Have reason won't pounce

Girl children know pentameter

My fat cat is free
Laughter prances on
Okay death
We love each dream

She love him!

Independent children
Are affectionate

Sex cry create
Sharp romance
Act over thought
Kiss voodoo rhyme

Bored hurricane
Culture could sing
Not through
Animal refrain

White bourgeoisie anxiety
Paranoid dinnertime
Indifferent twilight
Snore

How light
Put cartoon
Attitude like
Never uptight
Still forever

Beautiful Earth
Cheshire lion reconcile

Allergic to Timbuktu
Does scratch need chase
Why feed her fuzzier

The sun so allergic
As wet it fall
Until smile kissed moon
And winter shall adieu

Chasing versatile whisper
Would spring be good
Heaven bright dances
Our loyalty still a strength

My risque attack
Your hard catch
Hooray sure soul
Our big heat

Tell it again
Always cool
Enough beauty
Have a thought
Family unite to
New kingdom

Many kindred
Disdain black pet
Superstitious never

Stop
Lazy sneeze
Else dynamite!

Quite right
Thee cute little
By thy smile one
His pedigree is best
By wee passion
You make be

Have chocolate
Will travel

Should Persian Panther
From heart break
Guarantee nothing?
When love of life
Remind mine mysterious
Keep some time sublime

From house
Our personality
Can't but walk
happily the balance

Black dog
Calico mouse
Albino kitten
Snuggle him playful

The curious lover
Did scheme
None can crave truth
If people can't mellow

Have you guessed the "mystery theme?" It's Fridge Poetry In Random Order Interspersed With Pictures From Mike's Phone In Chronological Order.

"Boo?" What do you mean "boo?" Professor Patch McTweedy of Snubblington College (Upper Snubblington-on-Twine) called it a "sublime expression of obscurantistical proto-semiotic differance. Can I have my fee now?" And that's good enough for me.

Fall busy-ness

Fall is proceeding well in McBacon-land. I have a few photos to post here. We're just having a ball with Evelyn. Evening time is especially awesome as she runs around the playroom. I will try to post a video of her with balloons soon.... Big hugs!

She walks, she talks!

Don't think we don't love you! We hope you still love us! So much, so much...words don't suffice. A batch of pictures posted to Flickr. Here's a try to summarize the last two months:

  • First word in late August - a sign for "light"
  • Next words - sign for "milk" and "bird" and "flower"
  • Two dozen words in signs by her 1st birthday
  • Now over fifty signs and spoken words, too - "bider" for "spider" was today's word!

  • First stomach sickness
  • First cold (she doesn't like having her nose blown)
  • First dandylion seeds blown off
  • First sighting of the moon! One of her favorite things, with owls...
  • First Halloween costume (a dog)
  • First toothbrushing (she loves this!!)

  • First crackers, first zweiback
  • First spoon use to feed herself, last week
  • First whole milk
