Turbulence

We bid adieu to Sophie last weekend. It was a tearful parting and Evelyn still asks for "Oh-ee" every day. She was a part of our life for a year and watched Evelyn grow from a tiny poop-sausage into a rockin and rollin toddler.

Liz is back now (though unfortunately down with a cold) but her extended absence on top of Sophie's departure seemed to trouble Evelyn, who was needy and out-of-sorts last week.

Can a new stuffed animal friend take the place of mommy and nanny? Heck no, but maybe it can help just a little. Kee-Dee to the rescue! Evelyn and I went to Build-A-Bear and picked out Kee-Dee after an exhaustive evaluation process (there was a pink cheetah who was a strong contender). Evelyn got to put a heart inside before they sewed her up, and she has been a constant companion ever since.

That wasn't our only trip to the mall. Evelyn has become fascinated with elevators. We were both a little stir-crazy at home so we made several dinner-time trips to the local mall to ride the glass-sided elevator up and down and up and down. When we weren't riding we were eating at a table with a view. Evelyn kept up a running commentary on the proceedings ("up!" "down!" "people!" "out!" "baby!") and dad found himself thinking that in a funny way he was already home-schooling.

Evelyn also discovered a low table that was perfect for practicing climbing up and down.

"Gama" Sara came for a visit this weekend and we had a super time. We made two visits to the zoo and also hit the Children's Museum, where Evelyn continues to love the water room.

At the museum we explored the treehouse reading room where Mommy and Evelyn enjoyed The Escape of Marvin The Ape. Evelyn's reign as the World's Most Photographed Kid continues.

Here in the rainy northwest we are oh-so-ready for Spring's rejuvenation. All the best to you and yours!

Hi, my name is...

Adi! (pronounced "AH-dee").

We're tardy in reporting this; a month or so ago at least I asked Evelyn what her name is and she replied without hesitation "Adi!"

I was just funning around; I didn't expect her to answer. But here's the real kicker: she has a small toy 'Evelyn' license plate hanging on the wall in her room and if you ask her what it says she'll tell you: 'Adi!'

So yeah, her name is Adi.

Here's the latest crop of Daddy cell-phone pix:

All hail Queen Adi the Benevolent, bearer of Cape, Neckie, and Cown.
